A Busy Winter & Spring Steelhead

Well, it's been over a month since my last post... must be winter.

Since I don't offer January and February trips anymore I rely solely on work that comes into my woodshop for winter income. Thank God, this has been a busy winter. Just after my last guide trip of the year (around mid December), I received orders for over 18 funhouse mirrors through my website www.customfunhousemirrors.com This has made for a solid two months of woodworking, something I have always enjoyed... maybe not as much as fishing, but it's still a good way to make a buck. I am so thankful to God for His timely provision.

Spring Steelhead!

I have made a decision to offer spring guide trips for steelhead again, but on a limited basis of 3-4 days a week (March-April). After guiding 6 days a week for most of the spring in past years, I took last spring off to keep my fingers healthier. I have since decided my fingers can handle an (every other day) routine after successfully offering that schedule last fall. The day in between trips made a big difference in the overall health of my hands. For anyone who doesn't know, I had some frostbite issues when I was younger which now cause my fingers to lose circulation and develop painful ulcers if I don't take extra good care of them. Send me an email if you are interested in a spring steelhead trip matt@zflyfishing.com

For those of you like me who haven't ventured in the water for a month, cabin fever is probably setting in. Here is a nice video on the success of the Muskegon River featuring my good friend Kevin Feenstra. Enjoy the rest of the winter friends, spring is coming!
